Hi {{first_name|there}},
My new single Imaginary Girl is officially out worldwide. I couldn’t be more thrilled that today is the day! I’ve been thinking a lot about what this song means to me. Creating illusions can be fun, but at times, lonely. Read on to learn more about how this song came to be.
I posted this video recently sharing my feelings about the song:
@notbadia Hiding. Performing. Playing make believe... That's what Imaginary Girl is about. Out Friday 💘 #ImaginaryGirl #altpop #newmusic #dreamypop ... See more
A Peek Behind the Curtain…
Here’s a little look into the making of Imaginary Girl:
The Cover Shoot
You’ve seen the striking pink and blue cover art which was so incredibly captured by Infinite Shadows Photography. Did you know we started the shoot with yellow light instead of pink? These are some of the outtakes, all strong contenders! But in the end, pink was meant to be.

The Demo
This was the demo I finshed in early June. The final released version was so beautifully produced, mixed and mastered by Simon Victor Linsteadt. In his hands, the song truly blossomed!
The Beginning
Imaginary Girl started as a very different song when I first wrote it back in February 2024. The original version had way too many lyrics and chord changes, and felt chaotic as a result. I loved the themes so much that I revisited it earlier this year and reworked it - here are some images of the 2025 version when I was laying it down:

Pardon the chicken scratch 😀

One more thing…
If you like owning music and supporting independent artists, today is Bandcamp Friday. This means for one day only, Bandcamp waives its fees and more proceeds go directly to the artists. My songs are only $1 on Bandcamp (or more if you’d like to pay what you wish) and it’s a great way to support my music directly.
Much love and thanks for listening,
Nadia
